Completing a WHMIS Certification Course is an essential step for anyone working with hazardous materials in Canada.
WHMIS Training – Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (W.H.M.I.S)

By WorkSafeBC regulation, every person working with, or in proximity to a hazardous product MUST have proper, up to date W.H.M.I.S training.
The Canadian Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (W.H.M.I.S) has merged with the Global Harmonizing System (G.H.S) and is now the international structure developed to outline the baseline rules for classifying, labelling and handling of hazardous products. The new system also provides a standardized format for the Safety Data Sheets (S.D.S’s), formally known as a Material Safety Date Sheet (M.S.D.S)and ultimately outlines how workers can safely identify and handle the hazardous products that may exist in the workplace.
This program familiarizes trainees with both the WHMIS ’15 & ’88 systems, the transition between them and how they’re used in the workplace.
Course Outline & Content
– Our program is based on the most current legislation and designed to exceed requirements for general W.H.M.I.S training.
The course consists of mostly theory learning but trainees get the opportunity to have hands on training with some of the most commonly used equipment and P.P.E found and used in the workplace (gloves, specialty suits, respirators etc.)
Upon theory completion, participants will take part in a knowledge review test consisting of multiple choice, true/false and essay-type questions. These test are graded and returned to the trainees, then reviewed to ensure proper retention. A minimum score of 70% is required to pass.
NOTE: Anyone with known difficulties to English/written based exams must be accompanied by an interpreter or consult us about any difficulties that may arise.

Remember, employers MUST also provide workplace-specific training and instruction for EACH hazardous products in their specific workplaces. This course covers basic WHMIS awareness, a general knowledge of how to recognize and attain information on a hazardous product. This course does not covered detailed handling instructions on any specific products.
